Vacation Rentals Featured on PBS

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (January 17, 2011) – A landmark new reality travel series makes its TV debut this month, Getting Away Together, which is now beginning to air on PBS member stations nationwide. The first television show of its kind, Getting Away Together follows diverse groups of real travelers as they vacation together in destinations across America, with professionally managed vacation rentals as their home base.
Inspiration for the compelling new series comes from Americans’ desire to put relationships at the core of their travels now more than ever. For instance, more than eight in 10 travelers agree that tough times have helped them to focus on the things that matter most in their lives.*
Highlighting this “togethering” concept with authentic girlfriend getaways, family reunions, milestone celebrations and more, each episode of Getting Away Together features a new group as they unwind with meaningful experiences in fun locales, including:
– Central Oregon
– Garrett County, Md. (Deep Creek Lake area)
– Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, Ala.
– Hilton Head Island, S.C.
– Kissimmee, Fla.
– Oceanside, Calif.
– Oregon’s Mt. Hood Territory
– Outer Banks, N.C.
– Sevier County, Tenn. (Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Sevierville area)
– St. Augustine, Ponte Vedra and The Beaches, Fla.
Viewers will be inspired as they get to know each episode’s featured group, who grow closer by enjoying quality time together, often underneath the same roof. From lakeside chalets to mountain cabins, beachfront cottages and more, vacation rentals provide an alternative to other lodging options, allowing families and friends to stay in a fully furnished home, condo or villa for their getaways.
