Austin City Council Will Make STR Decision Aug 2nd, 2012

A Short-Term Rental Audit conducted by the city made it clear that STRs are not having a damaging impact on Austin neighborhoods. STR owners we want to be sure that remains the case, so Austin City Council Member Chris Riley presented a proposal that would create reasonable regulation of short-term rentals to protect neighborhoods and homeowners.

The city's planning commission has an alternative proposal, which the Austin Board of Realtors says is too severe.
