The Association of Professionals for Rent (APLM) represents people in the real estate, tourism and service business associated with vacation rental operations. The group was founded in March 2010 in response to efforts to Ban vacation rentals from the very popular city of Paris France.
The group cites the need of retirees to rent their homes to earn extra income, and the fact that many travelers want the experience of living in a local Paris neighborhood as reasons for the popularity of short term rentals.

It is a shame that others think that tourists are such a bad thing! Allowing rentals in a city as large as Paris would seem like a great thing to a normal renter like myself! Think of all the tourist dollars that brought in for extended periods of time. I have a couple Cape Cod vacation rentals, and the whole idea of the tourism is what funds the economy for most of the year!
